Action day for new perspectives

Sebastian Lau and Jan Sünneker discovered each other's everyday working lives at this year's ‘ Switch shifts’ action day.

The aim of the action day is to show how people with disabilities work. It's about changing your own perspective by swapping jobs. Many people do not realise what services are provided by people with disabilities in workshops. The aim of the day of action is to break down prejudices and promote encounters between people who rarely come into contact with each other in their everyday working lives.

A Lebenshilfe employee and a person who works in the primary labour market form a team to give each other an understanding of their everyday working lives.

At this year's campaign day at the beginning of October, Sebastian Lau, who is employed by Lebenshilfe, and Jan Sünneker swapped their workplaces. Sebastian Lau spent a morning at bekuplast and got to know Mr Sünneker's day-to-day work as a CRM manager. He accompanied him to the weekly department meeting and to production. In the afternoon of that day, they both moved to Sebastian Lau's workplace at Naber, the company for which Lebenshilfe works. Here, Sebastian Lau showed Jan Sünneker his work in the warehouse and explained what needs to be considered when packing kitchen accessories.

The day of action was a special experience for both of them with many interesting and new impressions.
