Reusable specialist bekuplast focuses on carbon neutral products

bekuplast now also offers its products in a carbon neutral way.

bekuplast is committed to sustainable production and has invested in reduction measures and the use of alternative environmentally friendly resources in recent years.

bekuplast's products are available climate-neutral on request.

Circular Economy

With its reusable solutions, bekuplast has been proving for many years that plastic and sustainability are by no means mutually exclusive. On the contrary: "Circular Economy" is the keyword. The reusable solutions manufactured by bekuplast are used for many years before they are 100% recycled at the end of their life cycle and returned to the material cycle.

But bekuplast does not rely on "Circular Economy" alone. In recent years, the company has continuously optimised the entire manufacturing process with regard to climate-friendly production and now also offers its reusable products in a carbon neutral form.

Carbon neutral on request

Sustainability has a long tradition at bekuplast. Since its foundation in 1985, the company has exclusively produced reusable products. In recent years, bekuplast has invested intensively in reduction measures and the use of alternative environmentally friendly resources. Being able to offer its customers carbon neutral products was the next logical step for the manufacturer.

For the introduction of its carbon neutral products, bekuplast relied on the support of a competent partner. The company ClimatePartner is one of the leading solution providers in the field of climate protection. "We deliberately chose ClimatePartner because we were convinced by the concept and the maximum transparency," reports Jan Sünneker CRM Manager at bekuplast.

If a customer decides on the carbon neutral variant of a bekuplast product, he can see exactly which carbon offset project is being invested in to compensate. The success of these projects is also transparently documented. The carbon offset projects, which are tested and certified according to international standards, demonstrably save CO2. Additional security is guaranteed by ClimatePartner's TÜV-Austria-certified process for offsetting CO2 emissions.

The path to a carbon neutral product

Calculation, reduction, compensation - this is the basis of the concept bekuplast has implemented.

  • Together with ClimatePartner, the company determined the CO2 emissions of its products. A Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) was created for each product. For this, raw materials, logistics, packaging and disposal were considered according to the common approach "cradle-to-gate plus end-of-life".
  • Where possible, further measures were taken to avoid and reduce CO2 emissions. The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is regularly updated and thus the success of the reduction measures is checked at the same time. All remaining CO2 emissions that cannot be avoided are offset by supporting carbon offset projects.
  • The end result is the carbon neutral product, which may be labelled with the independent label " carbon neutral". This label shows that the product is climate neutral. At the same time, information about the supported climate protection project can be viewed via the ID in the label.

Together for climate protection

For all recognised carbon offset projects, the most important requirement is that these projects are actually additional climate protection measures and that the contribution to reducing CO2 in the atmosphere is clearly measurable. These can be reforestation measures as well as the replacement of climate-damaging technologies with climate-friendly alternatives.

bekuplast has selected carbon offset projects for its products, such as regional tree planting projects, the international marine conservation project "Plastic Bank" or a climate protection project for the expansion of wind energy. If desired, bekuplast customers can also select other projects from the ClimatePartner portfolio. All ccarbon offset projects not only avoid CO2 emissions. At the same time, they contribute to achieving global sustainability goals, such as fighting poverty or improving living conditions in emerging and developing countries.

"Many customers have already expressed interest, because the purchase of carbon neutral products is becoming increasingly important in the context of companies' sustainability strategies," says Jan Sünneker, describing the first experiences. More and more companies are focusing on sustainability and carbon offsetting. Purchasing carbon neutral products is a practical solution for companies to contribute to global climate protection and at the same time strengthen the credibility of their sustainability strategy.
